Immerse yourself in Korean pop culture and ancient traditions.

Three days in Seoul blends ancient palaces with K-pop modernity, traditional markets with trendy cafes, and Buddhist temples with neon-lit entertainment districts. Here's how to experience South Korea's dynamic capital.

Day 1: Historic Seoul

Morning

Start at Gyeongbokgung Palace, the largest of Seoul's Five Grand Palaces. Watch the elaborate changing of the guard ceremony at 10am. Rent a hanbok (traditional dress) for free palace admission and photo opportunities.

Afternoon

Walk to nearby Bukchon Hanok Village, where traditional houses line hilly streets between the palaces. Explore quietly (residents live here), then sample street food in Insadong's traditional tea houses and craft shops.

Evening

Korean BBQ dinner in Myeongdong - grill your own meats at the table with endless side dishes. After dinner, explore the area's skincare and K-beauty shops, or watch street performers.

Day 2: Modern Seoul & K-Culture

Morning

Gangnam district for upscale shopping and K-pop vibes. Visit COEX Mall's massive Starfield Library, then explore the SM Entertainment building or K-pop merchandise stores.

Afternoon

Cross to Hongdae for youthful energy - independent boutiques, live music venues, and quirky cafes (including pet cafes and themed concepts). Great people-watching and street food.

Evening

Namsan Tower for sunset city views (take the cable car). Dinner in trendy Itaewon, followed by craft cocktails or clubbing if you're in the mood.

Day 3: Markets & Mountains

Morning

Hike or cable car up Bukhansan National Park for mountain scenery within the city. For less exertion, walk the Cheonggyecheon Stream linear park through downtown.

Afternoon

Gwangjang Market for authentic Korean food: bindaetteok (mung bean pancakes), mayak kimbap (addictive rice rolls), and raw beef tartare. The atmosphere is unmissable.

Evening

Dongdaemun Design Plaza for futuristic architecture, then night shopping at the 24-hour Dongdaemun markets. Farewell dinner of samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) or Korean fried chicken.
